Product Description

Our Lunchbox line consists of blisters packaged in a sleeved Styrofoam cup and lid, with the cubes having a trapezoid form. The lidded Styrofoam cups help prevent premature thawing of the blisters after customers have purchased the product in a retail store.

Available in 2 ‘flavors’ (Brine Shrimp and Bloodworms) and 2 sizes:

Brine Shrimp Lunchbox

  • SKU 20202: 240 g (8.5 OZ), 120 cubes; 24 cups per carton

Frozen Lunchbox Brine Shrimp (Artemia spp.) have also been marketed since the late 80’ties and remain a popular item for feeding aquarium fish till today. They can be fed to both freshwater or marine fish, as well as to amphibians, aquatic invertebrates and corals, which easily recognize the brine shrimp as prey items. We harvest the brine shrimp daily at dawn from solar evaporation ponds in the nearby saltworks from early May till late October and transport them to our facility where they are cleaned, rinsed, packaged, frozen and stored. All brine shrimp harvested on a certain day are processed and frozen on the same day.

Bloodworm Lunchbox

  • SKU 20206: 40 g (2.8 OZ), 40 cubes; 48 cups per carton
  • SKU 20207: 120 g (8.5 OZ), 120 cubes; 24 cups per carton

Bloodworms (Chironomus spp.) are the aquatic larval stages of different species of non-biting midge flies and form an important part of the aquatic food chain as nutrient recyclers by taking up nutrients (through grazing, scraping, collecting etc.) produced by primary consumers (e.g. photosynthesizing algae, bacteria, micro-algae & macrophytes). They provide these nutrients to the next trophic level (secondary consumers) and as such form an important food source for other aquatic insect larvae, amphibians, freshwater fish, and wading birds. The bloodworms we offer for sale are harvested manually from riverbeds and man-made ponds in northern China. We only receive live bloodworms and purge them in our facility in aerated holding tanks in which the water is continuously cycled through a filtering and disinfecting system (ozone based).

All blisters are frozen individually in our quick-freezer. Each sleeve contains a lot code and date of expiry for tracking purposes. Samples of each lot are submitted to an accredited laboratory for Salmonella analyses before being sold.
