Freeze-dried Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) have been and still are an extremely popular food for feeding both freshwater and marine predatory and omnivorous fish as well as aquatic reptiles. As krill feed on marine phytoplankton, they are an excellent source of marine derived proteins, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and astaxanthin, one of the natural carotenoids responsible for the vibrant and vivid colors of many fish and crustaceans.
Can be fed to:
- Freshwater carnivorous fish: cichlids, piranhas, catfish, koi etc.
- Marine carnivorous fish: triggers, puffers, groupers, eels, lionfish etc.
- Aquatic turtles: red-eared sliders, painted and map turtles, longneck turtles, spiny softshells, Reeves turtles, etc.
